I always love to use Canna Tropicana in groups if I am looking for a dramatic eye catching accent. I like to surround this plant in lots of green so that the wonderful rich rust and orange pink stripped leaves really leap out. Flower carpet red and white are wonderful! They bloom over a 6-8 month period in Seattle. Only insect problem are aphids in early summer, but they are easily eliminated with insecticidal soap. Almost evergreen here.
