How do I care for my Festival Burgundy cordyline over winter?
Festival Burgundy is hardy in USDA zones 8 through 11. In zones 7 or below, you need to keep Festival Burgundy indoors over winter as a houseplant.
How much water, and how do I fertilize?
Festival Burgundy is happy with low to moderate watering, and in terms of fertilizing, in spring give it some controlled release fertilizer.
Apart from in a pot, how else can I grow Festival Burgundy?
Because Festival Burgundy is clump-forming, it’s very useful planted en masse in the landscape. Its color and spiky texture also make it an ideal accent plant in a mixed-border style of planting theme.
How big will Festival Burgundy grow?
The individual leaves are a yard long on a mature plant, but the weeping nature of the plant means that its actual height is only 2ft 6in. The base from which the leaves emerge will eventually be about 18 in. across while the plant’s width, from leaf tip to leaf tip, will reach 5 feet.
Will Festival Burgundy grow well in shade?
It thrives and maintains its brilliant foliage color in full sun. It will tolerate some shade but the brighter the position the better.
