Burgundy Spire™ / Companion Plants

We all know that plants are dynamic, living things, and because we understand so much about our own plants (we carry out trials around the world) we appreciate the subtle differences regarding their growth and habit.

Which is why it’s worthwhile visiting the section of our site which gives you local information – which plants are available; when it’s best to plant, prune and feed them; tips and so on. It’s all here to help you enjoy them more.

Burgundy Spire™

BURGUNDY SPIRE™ australis type cordyline is spectacular like no other. Fully "dressed" to the ground, the rich burgundy foliage and the soft sway in the wind make this a "must have" plant.

Burgundy Spire™

As a young plant, BURGUNDY SPIRE ™ can look no different to others, but give it 12 months and it changes character to become one of the most stunning cordylines you can have in the garden.

Burgundy Spire™ is ideally planted with large leaf plants including Tropicanna® Gold, where the strappy leaves will contrast with the larger yellow green foliage of the Canna. Plant as a feature in a larger patio pot where the upright dark leaves will contrast with low growing annuals or leafy foliage plants.

(agapanthus) I think some are hardier than others, so look on the tag before you buy. I purchased a variety called 'Blue Storm' this spring, and it has never stopped blooming. I hope it makes it through the winter because the tag says Zone 9
