We all know that plants are dynamic, living things, and because we understand so much about our own plants (we carry out trials around the world) we appreciate the subtle differences regarding their growth and habit.
Which is why it’s worthwhile visiting the section of our site which gives you local information – which plants are available; when it’s best to plant, prune and feed them; tips and so on. It’s all here to help you enjoy them more.
Flower Carpet PINK. Just loves to show off
Even if not in full sunshine, Flower Carpet still shines. (This is Flower Carpet CORAL)
"I just wanted to send pictures of my Carpet Roses. As you can see they just love it in my yard. In Minnesota where I live it gets colder than 20 degrees below in the winter. I just tuck some leaves around them in the fall and prune back in the spring what looks dead. Mine are quite old already. I got them when you first put them on the market. I have every color too. Can't wait to see what is coming out next. Thanks."

"I planted the Coral Flower Carpet rose this spring, which I purchased from Lowe's. I want to thank you for the most carefree rose bush I've ever owned! I was also impressed because you included a packet of starter fertilizer that fed the plants for the entire season!! I am so pleased that I could plant and feed in one step and just enjoy the lovely blossoms. Thank you very much for a superior product!"

"I’ve also seen Flower Carpet roses thriving in the medians of the West Side Highway/12th Avenue. The city has planted them in huge swaths of single colors. With all the cars and the winds off the Hudson, I can’t imagine a worse environment for roses, but they’re in bloom all summer and seem to come back in spring just fine."
B.C., New York, May 2007
"Those Flower Carpet roses are unbeatable…possibly “the perfect plant.” No mildew or black spot, no watering once established, bloom all summer and thrive in lousy soil. We’ve used Flower Carpet Red in vacant lots in Yonkers and they’re like Energizer bunnies. No dieback either, even with stiff winds off the Hudson. The Red stays low and spreading while the yellow grows taller and more erect for us."
A.M., New York, May 2007
"Having lived all of my life in the city prior to moving to Bridgewater, NJ, I never cared for any plant life and never expected it to be so easy. I planted my Flower Carpet roses (Appleblossom and Pink) 7 years ago as border around the front of my home. They have been a beautiful addition to my landscaping and virtually maintenance free (I fertilize/weed protect beginning in spring only) and have added beautiful color and fragrance to my property. I am now planning to add more around the sides of my home as well. I am so happy I chose these wonderful roses!"
A.T., New Jersey, March 2008
"The best shrub rose I have grown was the carpet rose, it was beautiful for several years. This was in Illinois, I currently reside in Minnesota."

"Volcano Phlox really are a fantastic plant. I have never known a Phlox that re-bloomed as heavily as Volcano, and with mildew resistance to boot!"
Tina B., USA
(agapanthus) I think some are hardier than others, so look on the tag before you buy. I purchased a variety called 'Blue Storm' this spring, and it has never stopped blooming. I hope it makes it through the winter because the tag says Zone 9

Begonia Bonfire – "This is indeed a strikingly beautiful plant I am so impressed!"

'Volcano' phlox "Had to go to two more Home Depots before I got enough, but I am delighted. Also saw them at a specialty retailer in more colors in gallon size. Clearly they are very popular. Great product. Thanks very much."
S.I., Illinois
"Volcano perennial phlox have a high natural tolerance of the powdery mildew that plagues most other phlox. Volcano Phlox 'Ruby'. Smashing color, fragrance and early summer to fall bloom, it doesn't get any better than this. And the best news is the Volcano phlox paniculata series is mildew resistant. I've grown them for two years and they have been disease-free. The plants remain a tidy compact 24 inches high and don't require staking. With six colors to choose from, there is one for every garden."
Nancy Szerlag, master gardener and Metro Detroit freelance writer
"I have a Volcano Pink, Watch Your Garden Grow - KA-BLOOM!....It s lovely, it is beautiful, it's in full bloom and quite striking. It's vibrant and all you say. But it's white…not Volcano Pink. But I love it and wouldn't trade it. Looking at your web site, this phlox comes in many colors., somebody just switch or mixed up the label. No problem - no complaint. We love it and thanks."

"I bought 28 Flower Carpet roses 2 weeks ago...they are beautiful and blooming up a storm right now!".
S.H., Georgia
About five years ago I planted the Flower Carpet Red rose. I dug them up when I moved and planted them in their new home. Although moist, they love their new home and are gorgeous from spring to fall. They are one of the first to bloom. The roses reinvigorated me for my love of roses. They are not fussy. I had a huge problem a couple of years back with aphids and thought I'd lost them. A month later they sprung back and were beautiful again! I think they are red roses, at times they look pink. Excellent plant. :) I am looking to buy some yellow to go with the roses.
T.F., USA

New York Times writer Patricia Taylor profiled the rose garden of Jeffrey Van Pelt, Supervisor of Horticulture for the Somerset County New Jersey Park Commission. Van Pelt created a no-spray rose garden, inspired by the Flower Carpet marketing campaign. He wanted to test Anthony Tesselaar International's marketing claims, and when the Flower Carpet thrived, Taylor wrote that Van Pelt was sold.
